As the winter months are upon us, it’s important to make sure you are doing all you can to stay healthy. Whether you are an on-campus resident or a commuter, the spread of germs does not stop for anyone.
My first tip is to stay on top of your water intake. While this is a given, your immune system is weakened when your body is dehydrated. When your body is fighting any sickness, it will more than likely lose water to aid white blood cells. Water can help regulate body temperature if you ever have a high temperature and aid white blood cell production when your body fights infection or sickness.
My second tip is to take daily multivitamins. Whether that be pills, gummies, or a powdered electrolyte, this will help keep you happy and healthy. More specifically, vitamins like magnesium, zinc, vitamin a, vitamin c, and vitamin d are great for your immune system as well.
My third tip is to get plenty of sleep—more than you think you should get. I cannot stress enough that no matter how busy your day ahead might be, prioritizing sleep might be the most important thing. If possible, add an extra hour or two of sleep to your nightly schedule.
Staying healthy will ensure you can stay on top of your academics, especially with the final exam period approaching. All three of these tips are guaranteed to help prevent or overcome sickness. While these are simple tips, they are all the more effective if utilized correctly.
