"There will be no third debate!"

After a lackluster performance at Tuesday's debate, former President Donald Trump said he would not participate in another presidential debate.

"KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!," Trump said in a Truth Social post on Thursday.

This comes after Trump delivered an underwhelming performance against Vice President Kamala Harris, with some allies expressing concern in private.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a Trump ally, said the debate was a "missed opportunity."

At a rally on Thursday, Harris said she wants to have a second debate. Her strategy of getting under Trump's skin largely succeeded on Tuesday night, when she said Trump supporters leave his rallies early due to boredom.

"I believe we owe it to the voters to have another debate," she said.

Trump made numerous false statements throughout the hour-and-a-half debate. He suggested that Democrats want to execute babies after birth and said Haitian immigrants were stealing pets and eating them in Springfield, Ohio.

Rob Rue, the mayor of Springfield, said he has "not been able to verify any credible reports" of those instances occurring as of Tuesday.

Vice presidential candidates J.D. Vance and Tim Walz are scheduled to debate on October 1. The debate will be hosted by CBS News.
