Students Split on The New Look for The Hill Cantina

BY JEORGIA JAHUMPA

Some students say they love the food, but not the ambiance of the new The Hill Cantina.

At the beginning of the semester, Sodexo announced that The Hill would now be The Hill Cantina, offering Mexican cuisine, including burrito bowls, quesadillas, and corn chips.

While they still serve Starbucks drinks and pre-made items, such as salads and sandwiches, they no longer serve burgers, mozzarella sticks, or chicken tenders.

Students say that they enjoy the new food options, but do not like the theme of The Hill.

Gustavo Lago, ‘26, said he thinks the new changes help widen the selection of food at Stonehill, but does not like the cultural theme.

“I don’t mind it as much, maybe it is a little weird as to why Stonehill chose to go in that direction,” said Lago, “They could have handled it better by adding different foods from different cultures for everyone.”

Other students say they like both the food and the theme of the new Hill.

Jamie Hepburn, ‘25, said she often goes to the Hill after swim practice and enjoys the food.

“I usually go to the Hill when the Commons doesn’t have something that I can eat,” said Hepburn.

Students say that, instead of changing the food, there are other aspects of the Hill that need changing.

Hepburn said that they should hire more staff members at the Hill.

“I feel like sometimes they do not have enough staff and they are always rushing out food,” said Hepburn.

Bianca Salinas, ‘24, said that the mobile ordering system needs improvement.

“I feel like they should not rely so much on the mobile system,” said Salinas. “People want to complain that it takes a long time to get your food, but I feel like it’s unfair for the workers.”

Sodexo recently changed the Hill Cantina back to the Hill, but the menu remains the same.
