The Stonework’s Dance Company enraptured audiences at Stonehill College's Hemingway Theatre with their captivating performance of "Reel to Real" on April 18, 19, and 20.
The show featured a mix of modern and classical dance styles, telling stories and expressing emotions based on real-life experiences. From the lively hip hop dancing to the graceful contemporary, the dancers showed off their impressive talent and kept the audience captivated throughout the performance.
The choreography, created by both guest artists and members of the Stonework’s Dance Company, was praised for its creative storytelling and deep emotions. Each dance had its own story, exploring themes like love, loss, and resilience in a way that deeply moved the audience.
"Reel to Real has been an amazing concept to bring to life. Having our dancers resemble movie genres has been a fun creative theme this semester," Jenny Livolsi, a junior, said. "It was so fulfilling to see our hard work pay off this semester! It is so rewarding to showcase our work to our college community."
Megan Montiero, another member of the company , said she loved being part of the company.
"It is so special being part of a program where everyone can share their talents and unique creativity. The director, Valerie Robertson, emphasizes dancing as a family, and that is definitely felt when we are all out on stage," she said.
Montiero said she appreciated the audience support.
"We also greatly appreciate the contagious energy the crowd brings to all 3 of our sold-out shows," she said.
