To officially ring in the men’s and women’s basketball season, Stonehill College held Skyhawk Madness in the Merkert Gymnasium for all students.

“I feel like it brings the Stonehill community together as a whole and shows our passion for the school,” Bella D’Ambrosio ’25, said.

All bleachers were filled, and the energy was high as students were introduced to the men’s and women’s basketball teams. “I crave the energy that Stonehill always brings and just always a great time here,” D’Ambrosio said. “You never have any negative things to say about it.”

Ruckus team member, Nicole Possamai ’28, described her favorite part of the event. “Dancing, and the crowd being really loud.”

When asked how she likes being on the Ruckus team, she said, “I love it, especially as a freshman. I got to make so many new friends and be a part of something.”

Bringing high energy to the Merkert Gymnasium, Skyhawk Madness gathers all students to celebrate their school spirit.

“I think it brings everyone together; you get to see the different things you can do on campus as well, from dancing to just volunteering for this,” Possamai said.

Zach Cartella ’28 said this event is “kind of the first school community event I feel like a lot of freshmen go to. I think it is good for the freshmen.”

Both Possamai and Cartella said that Skyhawk Madness brings a sense of community to Stonehill, as all gather to support the Stonehill Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams.

D’Ambrosio is looking forward to the upcoming season. “I have high hopes for them, honestly. I work in the athletics department, so I’ve seen their stats from last year, and I think they will do good this year.”

The Stonehill community is, “good because I get to make a lot of new friends,” Possamai said, “I get to find other opportunities to do on campus, and I get to be a part of things like this.”
