Lauren Moran is the face of Hill Flyover being the First Woman on the E-board

BY OLIVIA WEBSTER

Lauren Moran, a Stonehill senior, is now known as one of the faces of the “student broadcast journalism club on campus.”

Moran is serving as co-president of the hill flyover alongside Chris Robbins.

“It is a creative outlet for people beyond their classwork who have an interest in sports media. The club allows students to express their creativity through social media, graphic design, photography, and videography,” Moran said.

Moran, who is also the summit sports editor, said that Hill Flyover is such a tight-knit club with members who all share the same passion for sports and media.

Both presidents work together to not only constantly provide a stream of content for the school, but also step into a creative role with working in the radio and video department, as well as photography.

“The most fun part about my role is truly expressing my creativity through making game day graphics and taking photos at games with my fellow E-Board members. We all work so well together and when we bounce creative ideas off one another, it makes for a great time,” Moran said.

The club itself has improved tremendously since last year. Moran said.

“The hardest part has to be the transition from an entirely different E-Board from last year. There was also a lot of preparation done this summer in starting the process of collaborating with the main Stonehill Athletics page,” Moran said.

Moran is also a student-athlete and a senior captain on the field hockey team,

“At times it is difficult to manage being a fall athlete while also trying to facilitate the club. However, being in the club has allowed me to be involved in and or further support every sport across campus other than field hockey,” Moran said.

However, Moran said there are so many rewarding parts of the job.

“At the end of the day the biggest reward is putting out good content that our department heads are proud of and that our audience/athletes enjoy,” she said.

Moran said she urges everyone interested in Hill Flyover as well as broadcast journalism to “not be afraid to try and fail and then try again. Trying new things opens up you to opportunities and passions you may never have known existed.”

“Being in the Flyover has opened up several job opportunities with it being simply on my resume, gained my connections with people on campus, and is an amazing creative outlet outside the everyday class schedule,” Moran said.
