The Skyhawk Accelerated Dual Degree program is an opportunity you do not want to overlook, allowing students to receive a master’s degree in as little as four years. Its innovative structure makes it unparalleled in accessibility, practicality, and potential for experiential learning,
Advanced degrees are only gaining importance in the workforce with 33% of employers having increased their educational standards over the past five years, a recent study by CareerBuilder said. An advanced degree is proven to boost upward movement in one’s career, increase one’s earning potential, and cultivate individuals who are more intellectually and practically prepared for employment in their given field.
Stonehill has recently rolled out a program that makes obtaining such a degree easy and financially achievable. SkyhawkADD strives to provide those who may not otherwise be able to receive such a degree with the opportunity to do so.
SkyhawkADD provides several avenues to cut costs. Not only do Stonehill students receive 20% off tuition, but they are able to count two of their undergraduate courses toward a graduate degree, on average reducing the number of credits that need to be paid for from 30 to 24.
“We are trying to create really intentional bridges between grad and undergrad,” said Elizabeth Stringer Keefe, the program's director.
Additionally, while completing their degree, students are given the opportunity to spend a year at a paid residency. The stipend participants receive from their work is often greater than the cost of SkyhawkADD, making the program virtually free during that year. This residency model is mutually beneficial for both students and employers, as it “creates a pipeline to employment opportunities,” Keefe said.
SkyhawkADD offers both in-person and fully online curriculums in nearly every program, making it acutely adaptable to one’s individual goals. While a 3.0 GPA is required to apply, the Graduate Admissions Office is willing to work with any student interested in participating. If you meet the GPA requirement as a current Stonehill student, it is almost guaranteed that you will be accepted.
The program is expanding exponentially, with enrollment having tripled in the last year alone. Next summer marks the roll-out of a professional nursing program (non-degree), making it possible for students to earn a certificate to be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
The Office of Graduate Admission is eager to hear from you – be on the lookout for the ability to join a SkyhawkADD Undergraduate Advisory Committee this spring, giving current students the opportunity to provide feedback and voice aspirations for their graduate experience.
For more information about SkyhawkADD, register for the open house on October 19th. There will be good swag, good food, and the opportunity to learn more about this one-of-a-kind opportunity!
Note: A previous version of this article said that students could become RNs. The article has been updated to correct that information.
