The 15th annual DiverCity event scheduled to take place on April 12, highlights Stonehill’s diverse community through the celebration of cultures and identities.
“Celebrating each others' heritages and backgrounds is so important and is the first step in helping someone feel seen, heard, and valued. The numerous identities of the performers and planning committee that come together as one,” Assistant Director of Intercultural Affairs Teddi Nguyen Lydon said.
According to the Office of Intercultural Affair’s Instagram, auditions could be sent in virtually until January 26.
The tradition began in 2009 and has been held every year since. This year’s event will take place in McCarthy Auditorium at 6 p.m.
All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to perform at the event. In the past there have been singers, dance groups, poetry, poi spinning, and a fashion show with various pieces that represent heritage, Nguyen Lydon said.
The energy of the event is what Nguyen Lydon described as her favorite part of DiverCity.
“The buzz of the backstage activities, the hustle and bustle of the performers getting ready in the green room, the amazing energy and participation of the audience - there is no comparison,” Nguyen Lydon said.
