Stonehill's Spring Break Plans

BY SUMMIT REPORTERS

From staying home and spending time with family and friends, to travelling internationally, Stonehill students will be enjoying their time off during spring break.

Residence Halls will be closing on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m., and reopen at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.

Some students are participating in Stonehill-run travel experiences both within the United States and Internationally.

Callie Silvey, a junior, will be travelling to Germany for 10 days for the Christian Churches in Nazi Germany class.

The students in the class will be visiting various cities in Germany and seeing what they have been learning about throughout the semester.

The externship program will also be taking place during spring break. The program is for first-generation willing to explore career opportunities and expand their network.

Sophomore Darcie Garcia will be attending the Boston externship program where they will meet alumni at PwC, Hubstop, National Grid, Brooke Charter School, Wayfair, the State House, W.B. Mason, and Coach4Life.

“I’m excited because it’s a new experience and I will learn so much,” Garcia said.

Other students will are looking to escape the cold and seek warmer climates such as Florida.

Tara O’Brien, a senior, will be going to Naples, Florida with her friends.

“Since this is my last one of college, I hope it is very special,” O’Brien said. “This is going to be a more relaxing trip, full of shopping, the beach, and even a sunset cruise”.

Senior Lauren Lavanchy is also headed to Naples and hopes to make memories during the fives days of her senior trip.

“We are definitely going to the beach and the pool, but we might even go to the zoo or get tattoos, who knows.” said Lavanchy

Some students are heading north for a ski getaway.

Elise Morrow is going to Danbury New Hampshire to ski at Ragged Mountain.

Morrow is going with four other girls and there staying at a ski house on Ragged mountain.

“I am most excited to just relax with my friends and hang out with good home cooked meals, movies, and the hot tub,” said Morrow

Morrow says they are going from Sunday March 3 until Thursday March 7

“I originally wanted to go somewhere warm, but I haven’t skied in a while and a house from a family member was offered to us to stay at and we couldn’t pass up that offer.”

Sophomore Andrew DeSimone will be going to New Hampshire to ski.

“I’ll be going to New Hampshire to stay at an Airbnb with my friends. We’re going to ski and just hang around,” DeSimone said.

For some, Spring Break is a time to stay home and catch up on work, or prepare for the future.

“I will be staying home. I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends,” Grace Patrone, a senior, said.

One student will be back working on a farm, and spending time with family.

“I’ll be back home working on the farm, it’s broccoli season,” Ryan Kelleher said. “It’ll be nice to see my dog, and my family too,”.

Another student will be taking two MTEL exams as a part of becoming an elementary school teacher and her degree.

“Additionally, I also personally aim to gain as much experience in a classroom as possible for my future. Therefore, I recently applied and secured a position as a substitute at my old elementary school,” Julia Leonard said.
