Snowstorm Brings Parking Challenges to Stonehill

BY CALEB TOBIN

Stonehill College is closing parking lots ahead of a snowstorm tomorrow morning.

Data from the National Weather Service predicts heavy snowfall of 4-8 inches and wind gusts as high as 50mph. The heaviest snowfall is predicted to occur between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Campus Police emailed all students and staff a list of the parking lots being closed as of 10 p.m. on Monday.

The lots being closed are Boland Lot, Duffy Lot, Chapel of Mary Lot, Library Lot, Sports Complex and Science Center Lots, and the Roche Dining Commons North Lot. Vehicles remaining in these lots past 10 p.m. will be subject to being ticketed and towed.

Students and visitors should move their vehicles to Lot 17. The email said recreation fields will accommodate overflow if needed.

During the storm, the facilities management department will work to clear roadways, building entrances, and main walkways to maintain emergency access to those areas. After those areas are cleared, the department begins clearing parking lots.
