On a frigid night with temperatures hovering around zero degrees, Stonehill students shivered their way to the sports complex field house for the annual Snowflake Soiree.
“Getting dressed up and spending time with my friends is a great way to start off the beginning of the end,” Senior, Cara Surrette said.
The semi-formal dance on Saturday, January 20 began at 10 p.m. until 1 a.m.
Tickets were on sale at the info desk in the lower Commons from January 18 up until the day of the dance at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for students to purchase.
“It was really fun getting to have a reason to dress up and make memories with our friends,” Olivia Childs said.
Upon arrival, students could put their coats in the group exercise room through a coat check service. The coat check cost $2 which was donated to the H.O.P.E service immersion program.
However, Caitlin Swanson said that she did not know that’s what the proceeds were for so did not utilize the coat check. She said that it should have been better advertised as such so students were more likely to do that rather than put their coats in the field house.
“It was nice that this year’s donations went to a cause that supports what Stonehill’s about. In years to come I think it would be good to continue this,” Swanson said.
Students over 21 years old could get wristbands at the door to give them access to the Brother Mikes Beer Garden which served seltzers and beer for $5. This area was separated from the rest of the field house with barriers. There were also snacks such as mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, chips provided to students.
“We are really trying to enjoy these last moments we have together at Stonehill,” Senior, Abby Green said.
Students enjoyed music from a DJ where song requests could be made through a QR code.
The temperatures may have scared students away from walking to the sports complex, contributing to a low turnout from underclassmen.
