Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Resigns from Stonehill

BY CAROLINE BUNNELL

Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost DeBrenna Agbényiga resigned from her position at Stonehill which was announced in an email from President Fr. John Denning on Nov. 18.

“I write to inform you that DeBrenna Agbényiga, vice president for academic affairs and provost, has resigned from the College for personal reasons as of today. I thank her for her service to Stonehill College over the last two years and wish her the best in her future endeavors,” Denning said.

The email said that Denning plans to meet with leadership within the college and will work with administration to navigate the transition.

Agbényiga was announced as the new Provost, and Vice President of Academic Affairs on November 4, 2020, and officially began her role at Stonehill on December 1, 2020.

Stonehill Communication Manager Liam Dacko said that there was not much more to be added from Denning’s email out of respect for privacy of Stonehill employees.

“Fr. Denning has already started meeting with academic leadership today. It is important to him to gain their input on next steps,” Dacko said.

Dacko said that an update will most likely be coming in the near future.

“Keeping in mind that Thanksgiving break is near, I suspect he will send an update to students, faculty, and staff in the coming week or so,” Dacko said.
