If you are looking for some pre-Halloween fun, check out the Haunted SEM on Oct. 25.
The longstanding Stonehill tradition will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday night this year.
Shannon Sousa, ‘25, the RHA president, said there will be some minor changes to the event.
“I have planned the Haunted SEM event for the past two years, and we are sort of changing the date. This year, we are hosting the event on a Friday, instead of a Saturday, so this way everyone can get an extra prep day,” Sousa said.
The logistics and supplies of the Haunted SEM are always the largest hurdle of the event, determined by the theme chosen by each hall.
“There is a large variety of themes, to be honest. Each hall will choose a specific theme this upcoming Friday, so we don’t really know what we’ll need for each until then. There are honestly so many themes- for mummies we need a ton of toilet paper. For spiders, we have to go to Party City and buy a bunch of fake cobwebs. For Coraline, we needed to buy an insane number of buttons. We’ve even had black plague and exorcist themes in the past,” Sousa said.
Sousa said it was meaningful to continue this Stonehill tradition and provide some Halloween entertainment on campus.
“It’s always nice to throw a campus event and bring the community together for something simple like a haunted house. It means a lot to both myself and the RHA that we provide a fun experience for the student body and introduce the new freshman class to a campus tradition,” Sousa said.
For more information, Sousa said students should take a look at the RHA Instagram and look out for information posted around campus.
“We’ve posted fliers around campus with the full information for the event, and if you can’t find any fliers, full information on the Haunted SEM will be posted on the RHA Instagram, @stonehillrha,” she said.
