OPINION: Reconnecting with the Earth

Have you ever walked outside and just lay in your backyard in the grass. You didn’t use a towel, or a blanket. Just you and the grass. I’m sure we all did as kids, but how long has it been since you actually connected with the earth. There’s something so beautiful about earths vibrations. They heal, and they radiate peace and unity. I believe nature is the best remedy to feel free. Free of the complications of life. Free of other people’s energy, and free of yourself. Your thoughts, your actions, and where you should belong in the moment. From personal experience being one with earth is soothing. Sometimes when I’m not feeling my best or if I’m overwhelmed, I go outside and surround myself with the sound of birds, the rush of water, and the fresh air from plants and trees. After I sit in nature for a bit, I feel present and grounded. I feel alive. It’s a space in time where I can just be. When you ever feel like your exhausted or drained or felling any negative emotions, go sit in the grass bare foot and focus on the sounds of nature, feel them. The vibrations all around you are pure and bring forth positive and fulfilling energy. Studies show that earths vibrational energy can actually decrease the activity of the amygdala, which helps in regulating emotions and reducing stress by lowering the stress hormone cortisol. Nature can act as balm for our busy brains. Trees can energize us. We just need to be outside more. Our energies are constantly being drained and reduced. We need to recharge. It’s quite disappointing that we as humans’ resort to such materials such as phones that drain our energy instead of fueling it. Instead of using our time on resources that uplift us temporarily we should focus on those that give us long lasting positive energy. As society we’ve lost the natural ways, we can obtain happiness. Which is just existing, sometimes we need that. Technology and modernized sources of instant gratification have robbed us from being present and having the opportunity to connect deeper with ourselves, the earth and others more efficiently. To achieve tranquility, we must let go of our familiar and embrace the unusual to replenish our minds, hearts and souls.
