As surrounding communities note increases in COVID-19 cases, Stonehill has seen the opposite.

“We have noted the low levels of COVID-19 activity along with other respiratory viruses thanks to the cooperation of the community,” Maria Sullivan said.

Sullivan, the director of Student Health Services, said they work closely with local health partners, such as the Easton Board of Health and the Massachusetts Department of Health, to ensure alignment with community-wide efforts to keep the virus at bay.

Stonehill continues to follow Massachusetts Department of Health recommendations regarding isolation and quarantine protocols. Sullivan said students are expected to isolate at home or in their dorm rooms if they test positive and remain in isolation for five full days. Individuals are expected to wear a mask until they reach “Day 11”.

Health and Wellness partnered with a local pharmacy on Saturday, September 24 during Fresh Check Day to provide a flu vaccine clinic for the Stonehill community. An on-campus Flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic was offered on October 24th , and there will be a third on-campus flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic on November 14 from 10-4 in Alumni Hall.

Health Services also offers evaluation and symptomatic testing for COVID-19 and other illnesses.

Sullivan said that students should do their best to work with faculty members, group leaders, and managers when they are ill.

“Students needing to isolate should reach out to their professors directly and promptly to inform them of their projected absence and to inquire about alternative arrangements for accessing courses,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan said the community should continue to do its part to try to keep the levels of respiratory illnesses, including COVID and Flu, low this season as we are heading into a season when respiratory illnesses are usually more prevalent.

“Stay home when sick, get tested for COVID-19 if exposed or symptomatic, mask when indicated, and stay up to date on vaccines,” Sullivan said.

Health Services is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
