9,116 fans watched the Stonehill Men's Basketball team compete in their first Division I game against the University of Connecticut Monday night.
Cole Bergan scored the team’s first Division I points in Stonehill basketball history on a pair of free throws.
With 16 minutes left in the first half, Chas Stinson made the first Division I field goal in Stonehill’s history on a three-point shot.
UConn. jumped out to a 28-9 lead with four minutes and 44 seconds to go in the first half of the game.
After two three-pointers from Max Zegarowski and Andrew Sims, Stonehill was able to cut the lead to 18 after being down 21with two minutes and 16 seconds to go in the first half. The Skyhawks trailed at halftime 38-19.
Zegarowski and Simms were the top scorers for the first half of the game, each with five points.
