Flu season is quickly approaching, which means it is time for Stonehill’s annual on-campus flu shot clinic.
Director of Health Services Maria Sullivan emphasized the necessity of the flu shot this year, on top of the COVID-19 booster.
“The flu and COVID will likely be circulating at the same time and can cause similar symptoms It is best to decrease the possible impacts on our respiratory system by layering prevention efforts to avoid Flu and Covid,” Sullivan said.
Stonehill students can schedule an appointment with CVS at a location on campus, using the link sent in an email from health services on September 26.
The clinic will be running through early November. Upcoming dates for the flu clinic include, October 4, October 13, October 19, November 2, and November 10.
Sullivan emphasized the necessity of the flu and covid vaccines to decrease the impact of the illnesses.
“The flu and COVID vaccine not only reduces risk of severe illness but can prevent hospitalizations and deaths. This can also lessen the impact on health care providers and hospitals by reducing the number of people with severe flu who may need to come to the hospital during a time when people are still getting ill with COVID,” Sullivan said.
Stonehill is also going to be offering three on-campus Covid booster pop up clinics in health services. The dates are November 3, November 8 and November 10 from 1-4:30 pm.
“For anyone who has not received a COVID booster, this is a convenient way to fulfill the requirement, if eligible,” Sullivan said.
With flu season approaching, and Covid still prevalent on campus, Sullivan encourages students to continue to practice healthy practices.
“Good habits include, good nutrition, hydration, sleeping habits, thorough hand-washing, avoid touching your eyes/nose/mouth, and avoiding individuals who are exhibiting signs of illness,” Sullivan said.
