The Women’s Basketball Head Coach broke the record for most games coached in program history.
Trisha Brown, head coach of the Women’s Basketball team broke Paula Sullivans record for most games coached at Stonehill College with 637 games under her belt.
“Really grateful that I’ve been able to do it here at one place and I knew when I came
down here, there was so much about Stonehill that I knew was special and different and I could really make a home Photo Credit: Bree Smith here as a coach and that is really what is important to me,” said Brown.
Paula Sullivan was the Women’s Basketball head coach for 20 seasons before becoming the athletic director at Stonehill College. Sullivan then hired Brown to be the new head coach of the Women’s Basketball Team.
Brown began her college career playing at Harvard University where she later coached
for nine years before heading to Stonehill.
“She was legendary, her name is on the court, like I said, to even be mentioned in the
same sentence as her, it's pretty special,” said Brown.
Brown said it was not a goal of hers to break the record as she did not know about it until she heard an announcement before her 636th game. She was appreciative of the recognition for reaching the record and then surpassing it.
“You coach for long enough you’re gonna hit a milestone like that, you just hope there’s
some wins along with them,” said Brown.
Another milestone reached by Coach Brown was 400 career wins in 2022 before the
jump was made to Division I. This season marks her 23rd season here at Stonehill where she was a part of the transition to Division I at the end of the 2022 season.
The Women’s Basketball program has had three head coaches since the program started, two of them holding more than 600 games a piece.
“Having two of us have coached that many games is very unheard of and you probably
won’t see a lot of it moving forward,” said Brown.
