Class of 2024 begins the countdown at 100 days

BY MOLLY STONE

Entering the spring semester as a senior is bittersweet, especially for the 2024 class.

Four years ago, these students were seniors in high school excited for upcoming senior banquets, proms, and graduations. On March 15, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down and stripped seniors of the events they wait all year for.

Four years later, the urgency of the pandemic has subsided, and the class of 2024 can be properly recognized for their accomplishments through a variety of senior events.

Stonehill College hosts many senior specific events throughout the spring semester, the first being the 100 Days Party which brings all seniors together to celebrate the milestone of 100 days until graduation.

“The 100 Days Party is one of my favorite traditions for the senior class,” Steven Pagios, the Director of Student Engagement, said.

“Our goal is to create an amazing, memorable experience for our graduating class,” he said.

Students dress up in semi-formal attire and gather as a class in the commons for a fun night of dancing, socializing, and celebrating. The 100 Days Party may be one of the first senior specific events many in this class have ever experienced.

"It’s important to recognize the class of 2024 since a lot of us weren’t able to have these types of events or a graduation during our high school years. For me, this is my first real graduation and I’m looking forward to all that comes before it,” senior, Matthew Graziano, said.

“I’m happy that the school gives us the opportunity to be with one another as a grade and provides us with a dance to celebrate,” senior, Crystal Chojnowski, said.

The Office of Student Engagement and the Senior Events chair of the SGA Programming Committee work hard to make sure these events run smoothly, Pagios said.

“Since it is a senior only event, students don’t usually know what to expect. We use the feedback from previous years to help with any changes or improvements. We are constantly trying to think of ways to avoid lines and get people in as well as making sure we have great entertainment,” Pagios said.

For many seniors, the 100 Days Party marks a pivotal moment, a chance to experience the celebratory milestones that were lost four years ago. As they dance, socialize, and revel in the festivities, the class of 2024 creates cherished memories, solidifying their bond and leaving an indelible mark on their college journey.

“Missing out on senior events in the spring of 2020 was tough. We’re headed into the real world soon. The memories we’re able to make these next few months will never be forgotten,” senior, Shane Paolozzi, said.
