A letter from the editor

Hey Skyhawks,

To say it’s been quite the week is an understatement.

Never did I expect as a college senior, or as the editor of this paper, that this would ever happen. While the coronavirus situation was already bad, I don’t think any of us thought that we would not be coming back to campus after spring break. I left things with my roommate and friends at, “See you next week.”

There are few words of consolation that I can give at a time like this. Things will most likely get worse before they get better. Thousands across the globe are sick, have died, and are dying.

For us seniors, our time at Stonehill has abruptly come to a close. While the College was planning for us to return, it seemed unlikely considering the course of events in the past few days.

These times are certainly unprecedented — but these are not the only days that our country has struggled in such a way. Less than a hundred years ago, our nation came to a screeching halt, as we were hit with a devastating economic depression and were thrust into the most horrific conflict in human history. And less than 20 years ago, our nation once again came to a complete stop on one sunny day in September.

However, amidst this rubble and destruction — we survived. We overcame. And we persevered. Believe it or not, this too shall pass.

While doubt has been cast over the remainder of the semester and the coming months, we will never lose the numerous memories and moments that we have made during our time at Stonehill College.

Keep washing your hands and please keep praying. Stay strong Skyhawks.
