In an effort to raise money for those severely impacted by the war in Ukraine, Students in Action (SIA) and the Student Government Association (SGA) Class of 2024 are collaborating to host a paint night tomorrow, Wednesday, April 27.

Scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Commons A, the paint night will include, “speakers from the school, raffles to bring in more donation collections, [and] information pamphlets,” Emily Gaudette, one of the students organizing the event, said via email.

Admission to the paint night is free, but the organizations are accepting Venmo donations, with all funds going to the National Bank of Ukraine’s Humanitarian Fund – an account opened by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) for the Ministry of Social Policy for humanitarian aid.

According to the NBU’s website, money transferred to the Humanitarian Fund will be used for a variety of purposes, including, “to provide food and shelter for refugees and citizens that have been displaced due to military conflict, to provide clothing, shoes, and medicine for them, to buy staple goods for the population, to pay out one-off financial aid, and to meet other essential needs of the population.”

Event organizers are also encouraging all attendees to wear blue and yellow in solidarity for Ukraine.

Those who are interested in helping Ukraine but who cannot attend tomorrow’s paint night can donate to @SGAUkraine on Venmo.
